ASSEMBLY SCHEDULE & REGISTRATION
Assembly will start at 7pm on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 and go through mid-afternoon on Friday, October 18, 2019. Assembly is an amazing opportunity to connect with other OA members around Region One, help generate resources for recovery, and lend your voice to the group conscience of Region One. Intergroups represented at Assembly are strengthened -- Representatives bring home ideas, resources and connections that will help the intergroup and the meetings it serves. We hope ALL of our 25 intergroups will be represented at Assembly 2019.
Each intergroup is entitled to one Representative for the first ten groups it represents and one for each additional ten groups or any fraction thereof. An intergroup may also select Alternate Representatives. An unaffiliated group may select one Representative and one Alternate.
The cost for Assembly is $35 per Representative, which includes the Thursday luncheon and a printed copy of the Assembly Notebook. We ask Representatives and visitors to register in advance for Assembly.
Visitors are welcome and may participate in most activities, except voting. As a visitor, you do not have to pay a registration fee. The registration process will also give you the opportunity to order a printed binder and a luncheon ticket. Use the link at the top of this page to register for Assembly.
We hope you will reward yourself after Assembly by staying for Convention, which begins on Friday evening and goes through Sunday morning. Registration for Convention is separate from Assembly. Use the link at the top of this page to register for Convention.
ASSEMBLY PREP: THE NOTEBOOK & HOW TO SUBMIT MOTIONS
The Assembly Notebook is now available online! When you arrive at Assembly, you'll be given a printed copy. We encourage all Representatives to review (but don't try to memorize!) the online Assembly Notebook before Assembly.
This year's Assembly Notebook contains a wealth of information and resources, including:
Template for submitting motions to Assembly 2019
ASSEMBLY PREP: PRE-ASSEMBLY GENERAL INFO "GREEN DOT" CONFERENCE CALLS
The Region Board will be hosting two conference calls to help Representatives feel comfortable and know what to expect at Assembly. These calls are open to all, but may be especially helpful to "Green Dot" Reps who have never attended Assembly. Two dates are offered for convenience only; it is not necessary to attend both calls. All registered Representatives will receive an email with instructions on how to participate.
Session 1: Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 4pm Pacific Time
Session 2: Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 7pm Pacific Time
ASSEMBLY PREP: PRE-ASSEMBLY BUDGET Q&A CONFERENCE CALLS
We need your help creating the best possible 2020 budget for Region One. All Representatives are encouraged to participate in one of the pre-Assembly Budget Q&A calls. We want to answer your questions and hear your valuable input in advance. This will save time at Assembly and allow for a more thoughtful process. Input from these sessions will be taken into consideration when creating the final proposal, which will be voted on at Assembly.
Two budget Q&A sessions will be held via conference call before Assembly. You can participate online or by phone. All registered Representatives will receive an email with instructions on how to join the call.
Session 1: Sunday, September 29, 2019 at 4pm Pacific Time
Session 2: Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 7pm Pacific Time
Session 3: Brief review and last chance for input at Assembly
ELECTIONS: REWARDING SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES AT REGION ONE
Being on the Board is a great way to give back to OA and help make recovery resources available throughout our Region. A fully-staffed Board helps ensure that intergroups are supported. Not only do you get to give back to OA, but you have the chance to learn new skills or hone ones you already have, as well as work with a fantastic group of people in recovery! Qualifications are listed on the applications below.
The Board positions listed below are up for election this year. Click on the applications to see job descriptions. Email [email protected] with your questions -- we would love to talk with you!
Please send applications to [email protected] by August 15, 2019, if possible. Nominations may also be made from the floor at Assembly, but receiving applications early means they can be included in the Assembly Notebook.
Chair (two year term) - Presides at Board meetings and Assembly.
Chair Application - Word format
Treasurer (two year term) - Maintains finances of Region One.
Treasurer Application - Word format
Member at Large (two year term) - Maintains speaker list, fills in as needed, helps with special projects.
Member at Large Application - Word format
Region One Trustee Nominee - We can affirm up to three candidates to run for election at WSBC
2020 for a three year term.
Trustee Application - Interactive PDF
Since current Board members may apply for the above positions, a vacancy would be created if they were elected to a new position on the Board. In that event, it would be necessary for the Board to make a one year appointment to fill that vacancy. Appointments would be made at the Post-Assembly Board Meeting, held on Saturday, October 19, 2019. Members interested in being appointed may use the Generic Board Application - Word format to apply.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO ATTEND ASSEMBLY
Region One has funds to help intergroups send a Representative to Assembly. If your intergroup cannot afford to cover all of the expenses associated with Assembly, please fill out the application below to request funding. Applications must be received by July 31, 2019.
